Raison Recap – May 27th 2024

It’s a short recap as the main headlines that grabbed our attention in Raison last week happened during the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen. Launched in 2009 to promote sustainability in an industry with substantial social and environmental challenges, the summit celebrated its 15th anniversary in Copenhagen this year.

Speaking in a panel alongside founder of the summit, Eva Kruse, Raison’s founding partner Peder Michael Anker Jørgensen and active board member of the Global Fashion Agenda reflected on the lacklustre sector’s progress so far, calling for bolder and more decisive leadership, as a new report affirms that the fashion sector’s greenhouse gas emissions are set to rise by 40 per cent by 2030.

There were also glimmers of hope at the conference with noteworthy new initiatives aimed at tackling the way we consume and dispose of fashion in more fundamental ways such as the The Fashion Remodel initiative by Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
